In this 2-week unit, students are provided opportunities to:
- identify the appropriate unit and device to measure mass when solving problems
- recognise whole-number and decimal representations of mass
- use a variety of measuring devices to measure lengths and distances in different contexts, including perimeter.
Represents numbers A – MAO-WM-01, MA3-RN-01, MA3-RN-02
- Decimals and percentages: Recognise that the place value system can be extended beyond hundredths
- Decimals and percentages: Compare order and represent decimals
Geometric measure A – MAO-WM-01, MA3-GM-02
- Length: Use metres and kilometres for length and distances
- Length: Measure lengths to find perimeters
Geometric measure B – MAO-WM-01, MA3-GM-02
- Length: Connect decimal representations to the metric system
- Length: Convert between common metric units of length
Non-spatial measure A – MAO-WM-01, MA3-NSM-01
- Mass: Choose appropriate units of measurement for mass
- Mass: Connect decimal representations to the metric system
Non-spatial measure B – MAO-WM-01, MA3-NSM-01
