Multi-age 3–6, mathematics, Year A – Unit 03

Introduce students to the big idea that what needs to be measured determines the unit of measurement in this sample unit.

Syllabus

Outcomes and content descriptors from Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) © NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for and on behalf of the Crown in right of the State of New South Wales, 2024.

Students are provided with opportunities to:

  • measure and compare lengths of objects using kilometres (Stage 3), metres, centimetres and millimetres
  • compare and describe features of two-dimensional shapes
  • measure, create and compare perimeters of two-dimensional shapes (Stage 3)
  • represent and read analog time (Stage 2)
  • represent and read digital, 12-hour and 24-hour time (Stage 3).
