Mathematics – Stage 1 – Year B – Unit 22

Patterns have something that repeats over and over and over again – this unit develops student knowledge, understanding and skills of two-dimensional shapes and their attributes and properties.

Mathematics K-2 Syllabus © 2021 NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for and on behalf of the Crown in right of the State of New South Wales.

In this unit students will learn to:

  • sort collections using attributes and properties
  • recognise, name and explore properties of two-dimensional shapes
  • investigate repeating shape patterns that grow, shrink, radiate and are symmetrical
  • investigate repeating number patterns that grow and shrink.
