Multi-age 3–6, mathematics, Year B – Unit 06
This 2-week unit develops the big idea introduced in Year A: that our number system extends infinitely to very large and very small numbers.
Syllabus
Syllabus outcomes from Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) © NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for and on behalf of the Crown in right of the State of New South Wales, 2024.
Students are provided with opportunities to:
- read, partition, rename, represent and order numbers up to 6-digits (Stage 2) or up to and including billions (Stage 3)
- recognise, name, compare, order and represent decimals
- identify the relationship between addition and subtraction (Stage 2)
- apply place value knowledge and known strategies when solving addition and subtraction problems for whole numbers and decimals (Stage 3).
The content in this unit is informed by the lessons in Stage 2 Year B Unit 26 and Stage 3 Year B Unit 26. Please refer to these units for additional lesson guidance.
