Quirky comics
Quirky comics is a series of entertaining video texts that support language learning.
Language teachers can use the texts to support teachers to implement the Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus, particularly the 'Understanding texts' focus area.
In addition to using a range of authentic vocabulary, each of the texts provides models of pronunciation and grammatical structures that can support the teaching of these systems of language.
Language teachers can support the overall literacy of their students through Quirky comics by engaging in activities such as:
- sequencing the stories
- illustrating their own stories
- acting out the stories
- designing an advertisement for the stories
- writing profiles of the characters in the stories
- writing summaries of the stories
- making up their own beginning or ending to the story
- continuing the stories by writing the next chapter.
