The Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022) replaces the existing Italian K–10 Syllabus (2018) from 2024.
In 2024, implementation of the Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus (2022), commences in schools, with:
- K–6
- 7–10 mandatory 100-hour courses
- new 100 and 200-hour elective courses.
Classes which commenced a 100-hour or 200-hour elective course in 2023 should continue to use the existing language-specific syllabus until the end of 2024.

Stage 4
This 10-week (25-hour) unit introduces students to sharing information about their school day, and allows opportunities to compare school routines in Australia and Italy. Students will develop the language skills and intercultural capability to describe their subjects and teachers, and to express preferences with reasons. Students will also discuss how they get to school, times and days of the week.

Support for the Italian K–10 Syllabus (2018)
The Italian K–10 Syllabus (2018) was developed using the Languages K–10 Framework. As all K–10 language syllabuses (2017 and later) are underpinned by this framework, teachers should view resources across all languages to access a broader range of sample scope and sequences, unit starters and assessment tasks.
