Writing in Secondary

Innovative and high-impact professional learning designed to lift academic writing within subject disciplines for Stage 4 and 5 teachers.

Writing in Secondary Resource Hub

All secondary teachers are invited to access the Writing in Secondary (WiS) Resource Hub. Here, teachers can find rich, evidence-based materials that support them in creating classrooms where students are building their knowledge through learning to write and writing to learn.

Resources include:

  • links to the WiS eLearning modules
  • an online Grammar Guide
  • teaching strategies
  • summaries of key research on the teaching of writing
  • bespoke resources created by expert Stage 4 and 5 teachers to support the teaching of writing.

The comprehensive range of resources on the site aims to strengthen the teaching of writing in secondary subject areas. Content on the WiS Resource Hub is continuously evaluated and updated.

Please note that the illustrations of practice and textual examples used in the Resource Hub are drawn from History, Visual Arts, Science and PDHPE. However, the general principles, key concepts and aspects of language and text covered are relevant to strengthening practice in the teaching of writing in other secondary subject disciplines.
