Professional learning support services
Workshops and services to support professional learning practice in schools.
Our workshops, information sessions and presentations are available to school networks and education support teams across the department. They are developed collaboratively, available by request and designed to:
- deepen understanding of evidence-informed professional learning practice, including the High Impact Professional Learning (HIPL) model and Principles for Building Capability (PBC)
- identify opportunities for strengthening connections between existing practice and the professional learning procedure
- explore resources and tools to support the implementation of professional learning in schools
- provide opportunities to collaborate with colleagues to reflect on the Professional learning for teachers and school staff procedure and identify next steps for implementation in your work.
Professional learning procedure workshops for school networks
What: The School Professional Learning support team will work with your school network to co-design workshops to explore key aspects of the Professional learning for teachers and school staff procedure and available resources to support professional learning practice in schools. This deep dive for school leaders will provide useful tools and insights to drive high impact professional learning practice across your school network.
Why: To develop a deep understanding of evidence-informed professional learning practice, the HIPL model, the Principles for building capability, supporting resources, reflect on existing practice and plan for strengthening implementation within the school.
Who: Principal networks, Deputy Principal / Instructional Leader networks, APC&I networks, Community of School networks.
When: By request.

HIPL alignment workshops for education support teams
What: The School Professional Learning support team will work with your team to explore how your work aligns with the HIPL model. Following an initial Discovery workshop, the team will work with you to co-design an alignment statement to use and support your team’s understanding. Along the way, you will identify opportunities to strengthen how your work aligns with and supports evidence-informed professional learning practice in schools..
Why: To explore the HIPL model and the Principles for building capability to identify connections between existing practice and opportunities for refinement.
Who: Education support teams involved in designing, promoting and/or delivering professional learning support for schools.
When: By request.
How: Team leaders and/or education support directors can email professionallearning@det.nsw.edu.au to register interest.
Information Sessions
What: The School Professional Learning support team will co-design a session that introduces key aspects of the Professional learning for teachers and school staff procedure.
Why: To introduce key aspects of the procedure and provide an overview of implementation support for use in establishing or enhancing high impact professional learning practice in schools.
Who: Principal networks, Deputy Principal / Instructional Leader networks, APC&I networks, Community of School networks, education support teams, professional associations
