Introduction to the literacy and numeracy progressions online
This online eLearning course is being offered to support primary and high school teachers to develop an understanding of the National Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions as tools to support literacy and numeracy development across the curriculum. This is the first in a series of online learning modules which will provide schools with an opportunity to explore the learning progressions, PLAN2 and Best Start Assessments in Kindergarten and Year 7.
Who should access
This course is open to all primary and high school teachers.
Teachers will examine the structure of the literacy and numeracy progressions and consider their role in informing teaching, learning, feedback and assessment. Participants will analyse work samples to support them in identifying students’ literacy and numeracy behaviours and to target areas for growth. Teachers will be guided to use the text complexity appendix to analyse the suitability of texts used at their school, and build understanding of how to use the literacy progression.
Participants will undertake guided reflection upon their 2018-2020 School Strategic Plans, considering how the Literacy and Numeracy Progressions can assist them to meet their school’s literacy and numeracy aspirations.
Participants can register for the course Introduction to the literacy and numeracy progressions online (RG03806) through myPL.
