Retail – Certificate III

Trainees will learn the skills and knowledge to be competent in retail operations. Work is undertaken in various retail store settings, such as specialty stores, supermarkets, department stores, quick service restaurants and other retail outlets.

Trainees learn the skills and knowledge to be competent in retail operations, providing services such as in-depth product & service advice, products sales and services, point-of-sale service, organisation and maintenance of work areas and displays and other responsibilities, such as merchandising in various retail store settings, including specialty stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets. Job roles include; sales assistant, senior sales assistant, customer service assistant or point-of-sale operator.

Outcome on completion of HSC

  • Certificate III in Retail SIR30216 in SIR Retail Services Training Package.

  • Pathway to Certificate IV in Retail Management.

Course delivery

  • Both on the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly or mixed mode.

  • The SBT term is calculated in months from the date of commencement to 31 December of the HSC year.

Commitment required

  • Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment and training.

  • Undertake Certificate III in Retail qualification as part of your HSC.

  • The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.

How will you be assessed?

  • Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work and practical exercises.
