Conservation and Ecosystem Management involves working on bush land sites that have been impacted or disturbed. They are often weed infested, subject to soil erosion or have been damaged in some way.

You will learn the techniques used to restore degraded environments, implement ecological restoration practices such as bush regeneration and revegetation works.

Work may be in Indigenous land management, conservation earthworks, lands, parks and wildlife/natural area management context as a job focus or a mixture of these.

Outcome on completion of your HSC

• Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management AHC21020 in AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package.

• Articulation into a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management AHC31421.

• A career path into the Conservation and Ecosystem Management industry.

Course delivery

• On the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly or mixed mode.

• The SBT term is calculated in months from the date of commencement to 31 December of the HSC year.

Commitment required

• Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment plus the formal training to complete the qualification.

• Undertake Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management as part of your HSC.

• The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.

How will you be assessed?

• Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work and practical exercises.
