Civil Construction – Certificate II

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in an operational role in civil construction, who undertake a prescribed range of tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge, in a defined context working under supervision.

As a trainee, you will undertake a prescribed range of tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge, in a defined context working under supervision; including learning to spread materials to form and seal roads and footpaths, repairing damaged surfaces, undertaking general maintenance of bitumen surfaces as well as operating road surfacing equipment while gaining practical skills using hand tools and WHS essentials and workplace communication skills.

Outcome on completion of your HSC

  • Certificate II in Civil Construction RII20720 in RII Resources and Infrastructure Training Package.

  • A career path into the Civil Construction and related sectors.

  • Advanced standing into the Certificate III in Civil Construction qualification.

Course delivery

  • On the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly or mixed mode.

  • The SBT term is calculated in months from the date of commencement to 31 December of the HSC year.

Commitment required

  • Undertake a minimum of 144 days in paid employment and training.

  • Undertake Certificate II in Civil Construction as part of your HSC.

  • Employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.

How will you be assessed?

  • Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work and practical exercises.

This optional course recognises the significant work component involved in the school based traineeship..

The course offers an additional 4 units credit towards your HSC.
