Pathways Universal Resources

Progressing Our Plan for NSW Public Education’s focus area of providing meaningful post-school pathways for all students. The Pathways Improvement team are responsible for the development of universal support and pathways guided support.

There are three focus areas aligned with the key actions in Our Plan for NSW Public Education, ensuring that every student finishes school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway as an informed, responsible citizen:

  • Embedding pathways diversity

  • Providing high quality career education

  • Strengthening school-industry engagement

Pathways resources can be accessed by department staff from the Universal Resources Hub. Universal resources have been through a rigorous quality assurance process involving assessment against the Universal standards, review by a cross-directorate working groups and executive approval before publication.

These school improvement resources will support schools in their strategic planning, uplifting their pathways practice to achieve their self-determined pathways improvement measures. Resources should be contextualised and used by schools with secondary students as needed.

Provide Meaningful Post-School Pathways this collection of resources provides school planning resources to support school leaders and educators to enable the provision of diverse and meaningful pathways for secondary students ensuring that every student finishes school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway as an informed, responsible citizen.

Pathways Improvement - IPM Samples this collection of resources supports schools when developing Implementation and Progress Monitoring (IPM). They provide a range of sample activities and tasks that could be selected by schools to enhance pathways diversity, career education, or school and industry engagement to provide meaningful post-school pathways for secondary students. IPM Samples for each of the focus areas have been broken down into Plan, Implement and Embed phases.

The teaching and learning resources are developed by Education support teams and are aligned to the ‘Teaching and Learning’ or ‘School Excellence’ cycles.

All schools can self-implement and adapt these resources.

Career Learning in Curriculum – Stage 4 collection supports staff with the intentional integration of career-related knowledge, skills and experiences into educational programs

The iEntrepreneur toolkit collection is a comprehensive resource designed to guide teachers to support students through the entrepreneurial process, from exploring problems to sharing innovative solutions. This toolkit provides structured activities and lesson plans aimed at developing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities essential for entrepreneurial success.

Work Studies-Stage 6 Module 2: Preparing job applications the purpose of this resource is to support teachers of EAL/D students to address the career competency learning needs of EAL/D students, and to assist schools in meeting their commitment to the Multicultural Education policy.

Maths in Workplaces resources support teachers to connect classroom mathematics with real-world applications across diverse workplaces, including industries experiencing skills shortages in NSW.
