Inclusive transition strategies for students with disability

Schools have a responsibility and commitment to ensure that students with disability and additional learning and support needs have the opportunity to access high-quality education at every stage of their educational pathway and are learning to their fullest capability.

The NSW Department of Education has developed professional learning designed to increase knowledge and understanding on providing equitable pathways for students with disability, utilising pathways resources, programs and strategies that are inclusive of students with disability.

Who is this professional learning for?

Careers Advisers, Transition Advisers, Learning and Support teams and staff supporting the transition of students with disability.


Delivery modules

  • Three modules - Weeks 3,4,5 in Term 3, 2023
  • Dates: 1, 8, 15 August 2023
  • Time: 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Aim of delivery is to strengthen teacher capability to:

  • implement the inclusive education policy for students with disability in post school transition.
  • utilise the supports available for students with disability
  • support career development for students with disability.

Content to be delivered:

  • Disability in Australia and the context of tertiary studies within and beyond NSW public schools.
  • Processes and planning - equitable access to in-school supports and resources to improve post school outcomes for students with disability.
  • Sharing knowledge and information to better support the implementation of post school transition planning for students with disability.
