Mentee expression of interest (EOI)

We are currently seeking expressions of interest, from new careers advisers, to join this exciting program. On acceptance to the program, you will be matched to an experienced careers adviser, participating in the Careers Adviser Mentoring Program. They will reach out to you directly to identify your support needs.

Participation in this program requires that you commit to actively engage with your mentor, participating in the career adviser mentor program, for the duration of their professional learning (August to December 2024).

Preference will be given to careers advisers with less than three years' experience in this role.

Careers adviser mentoring program

The careers adviser mentoring program supports experienced school-based careers advisers who wish to develop their skills in mentoring and are willing to work with a mentee throughout the duration of the program. It offers a mix of live and on-demand learning as well as intersessional activities, supported by experienced leaders from the Career and Workplace Learning team and NSW School Leadership Institute (SLI). The SLI has established a new, high-quality mentoring program which will build the leadership skills of mentors and the capabilities of mentees. The Lead and Aspire Mentoring Program will be piloted in Semester 2, 2024, before being offered more widely for teachers and leaders in NSW public schools.

Preference will be given to careers advisers with more than three years’ experience in this role. Program participants will participate in professional learning and facilitated networking, whilst mentoring new careers advisers. NOTE: participants MUST be available for all professional learning sessions.

Pre-mentoring program

• Online information session: Tuesday 11th June 3:30pm - 4:00pm
• Expression of interest: 2024 Expressions of interest for mentors are now closed.

Mentoring program

• Online introduction session – Thursday 1st August 2:30pm - 3:30pm Introduction to Career and Workplace Learning team, allocation of CWL support person, overview of resources, processes and introduction to community of practice. Alternative arrangements can be accommodated on request.
• Career and workplace learning online professional learning 2 hours, details to be confirmed
• Community of practice (ongoing support)
• LAMP mentoring program delivered by SLI

NOTE: Career and Workplace Learning team can assist with accommodation and travel arrangements for participants based outside of Greater Sydney.
