Early childhood services play a vital role in helping to keep young children safe. With busy roads, car parks, and pedestrian areas surrounding many centres, proactive road safety practices and education are essential to protecting children and supporting safe behaviours from an early age.

Road safety is a shared responsibility.

Taking children out on excursions can provide many wonderful real-life experiences and the opportunity to talk about being safe when near roads. Advice is provided to support staff in managing excursions.

Road Safety Education in Early Childhood Services

Preschools and early childhood education and care services can access expert road safety education advice and support through Kids and Traffic, a partner in delivering road safety education as part of the Transport for NSW Road Safety Education Program.

Kids and Traffic provides free road safety education resources, professional learning opportunities, and guidance to help early childhood services support safe travel and meet relevant road safety requirements.
