Engaging external road safety provider checklist

This checklist helps schools assess external road safety providers and decide whether their programs, presentations or resources support the school’s PDHPE road safety curriculum (including Stage 6 Life Ready).

School staff remain responsible for teaching road safety and for the school’s education programs. External providers can add value if they meet the students' needs, but should not be the sole deliverers of a curriculum content area. Use this checklist to check a provider’s relevance, curriculum alignment, quality, safety and accountability before you engage them.

For the purposes of this document the term ‘external provider’ refers to any person, organisation or group offering their programs, presentations and/or resources to support road safety education.
