Early Stage 1 students are vulnerable road users. They are still developing their road safety skills, behaviours and attitudes and learning their new way of getting to and from school.

Starting school is a significant event in children's lives and the whole family. This resource supports teachers, students and their families start school safely together.

This Early Stage 1 - Starting school safely resource provides teachers with four teaching and learning activities about being a safe road user. Teachers can choose what is appropriate and relevant to their student's needs.

Involving families is important to ensure the messages are shared and practiced.

Additional information is provided to Principals to support the communication of road safety messages with their families.
