Vocal Ease MORE (Module 1) supports you with the implementation of music from the Creative Arts K–6 Syllabus.
It includes a variety of performing, organising sound and listening activities:
- 5 songs with interactive scores, recordings and backing tracks
- background information and teaching and learning activity suggestion which are sequential and rigorous, videos of these activities being taught
- interviews with the composer and educator.
This eLearning course can be completed independently, however participants are encouraged to work with other members of their staff to plan and deliver lessons inspired by this course and its corresponding resource.

Introduction to visual arts within the creative arts K–6 Syllabus

This course is divided into two modules (each module must be completed in order to successfully finish the course).
Module 1
- Explanation of NESA requirements and overview of the visual arts outcomes in the context of the syllabus.
- The artmaking practices (the ‘physical tools’) of line, shape and form, value, space and perspective, colour and texture are explored.
- These ‘physical tools’ within the artmaking practices are then combined with the representational qualities (the ‘mind tools’) including rhythm and movement, harmony and balance, emphasis, proportion, graduation, signs, symbols, codes and conventions.
Mid-course task – you are required to:
- prepare and teach one visual arts lesson to a K–6 class (of a minimum of 20 minutes) relating to at least one artmaking practice learnt during Part 1
- submit via email an overview of the lesson and receive feedback prior to teaching it.
Module 2
- The forms, qualities and processes as are detailed in the syllabus. You will engage in pedagogical approaches to using these forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and 3D, texture, fibre, photography and digital forms.
- Practical examples of the artmaking practices in the context of the learning experiences, forms, qualities and processes.

This module focusses on the Stage 6 preliminary dance syllabus and the performance, composition, and appreciation requirements. Participants will draw connections between their school plans, PDP goals and the curriculum throughout this course. This module takes about 2 hours to complete.

This module looks at the Stage 6 HSC dance syllabus and the performance, composition, and appreciation requirements and introduces the major study of performance, composition, appreciation and dance and technology. Participants will reflect on their practice and knowledge of the Stage 6 course and its requirements throughout this module.
Stage 6 Dance – Approaches and insights

This module contains videoed interviews with students and their teachers focusing on the development of the various major study options in HSC dance. In the 8 teacher interviews, participants learn of the support structures and strategies used to scaffold and foster student achievement in the Stage 6 dance course, as well as reflect on their own teaching practice while gaining insight into approaches used by successful teachers in various school settings across NSW.

Through this online learning module participants will engage with the syllabus and unpack the outcomes, and structure to identify and reflect on effective teaching and learning experiences when teaching the Drama essay component for Stage 6. Participants will be given interactive classroom activities and strategies from year 7–12 to promote practical and written learning opportunities in appreciating and critically studying. Participants will regularly revise and reflect on the elements of drama, drawing connections with the requirements and teaching and learning activities. Course activities are also designed to provide learning and collaboration opportunities for teachers to explore and establish individual goals by reflecting on their current classroom practice of the topic.

This module contains videoed interviews with students and their teachers focusing on the development of the various project and performance options in HSC drama. In the 13 student-focussed interviews, course participants learn about the unique journey of each interviewee and their intentions, choices and actions as they reflect on the process of refining their projects and performances. In the accompanying 11 teacher interviews, participants learn of the support structures and strategies used to scaffold and foster student achievement in the Stage 6 group performances and individual projects.

Through online learning activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to design teaching and learning activities for performance, composition, musicology and aural learning experiences and develop school-based planning and assessment strategies for Music 1 Stage 6.
Visual Arts Stage 6 and the Body of Work

This professional learning event will allow participants to build their understanding and skills when unpacking the key features and components of the Stage 6 Preliminary and HSC Visual Arts syllabus. Participants will interact directly with the syllabus components of the Frames, Conceptual Framework and Practice by completing online learning tasks, before interacting with a series of teacher and student videos based on the teaching and learning journeys for the HSC Body of Work.
