Live Life Well @ School
Live Life Well @ School is a collaborative program run by the NSW Department of Education and NSW Ministry of Health. It promotes healthy eating and active living, such as increasing physical activity, for students. When students eat well and stay active, they learn better and improve their health and wellbeing.
What the program does
Live Life Well @ School helps schools create strategies to:
- teach students about healthy eating and physical activity through PDHPE
- build partnerships with the community to support school-wide health initiatives
- provide more chances for students to be active throughout the day.
How the program helps schools
The program offers evidence-based support to help schools:
- give students opportunities to eat more vegetables and fruit and drink water at school
- encourage school canteens to provide food and drinks consistent with the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy
- offer activities that help students learn and practice basic movement skills
- create an environment that supports physical activity
- promotes active travel, like walking or cycling, to and from school.
How schools can get involved
Schools can get involved by contacting their local Health Promotion Officer through their Local Health District office. Health Promotion Officers will work with schools to plan and put into practice activities that encourage healthy eating and physical activity. They can support teachers by offering additional tools, resources, and ideas that support these goals.
For further information, schools can email student.health@det.nsw.edu.au.
