Planning, programming and assessing mathematics K–6

Resources to help you plan, program and assess mathematics from Kindergarten to Year 6

Mathematics K–6 resources update

The NSW Department of Education is revising and updating curriculum implementation resources for NSW syllabuses, including sample units, to align with system-wide priorities such as the Explicit teaching in NSW Public Schools statement and Our Plan for NSW Public Education.

As part of this work, the Mathematics K–6 sample units are no longer available on the public website.

Access for NSW public schools

Currently, all Mathematics K–6 resources are available to NSW public school staff on Inside the Department: Mathematics K–6 units (staff only).

As of Friday 14 November 2025 (Term 4, Week 5), all Mathematics K–2 units are no longer available.

Future releases of revised Mathematics K–2 units will be made in the Lesson library with timings still to be confirmed. In the interim, staff are recommended to explore the Universal Resources Hub and Curriculum resources mathematics K–12 webpage for Mathematics K–2 resources.

Mathematics 3–6 resources remain available to NSW public school staff on Inside the Department: Mathematics 3–6 units (staff only), with newly revised 3–6 Term 4 units available in the Lesson Library (staff only).

Using sample units

NSW public school teachers and staff may continue to adapt and use existing Mathematics 3–6 sample units as part of their programs, applying professional judgement and local school decisions in line with syllabus requirements and student needs.
