Community languages schools
Community languages school operators may request access to school facilities.
Community languages schools funded by the NSW Community Languages Schools Program may use NSW Government school facilities and classrooms free of charge to run their school during school terms.
Providers of language classes that are not approved by the NSW Community Languages Schools Program may also apply for access to school facilities.
Operators should contact the principal to determine if the facilities are appropriate and available for use.
The school principal:
- assesses applications received from a community languages school
- must contact the NSW Community Languages Schools Program unit to confirm if the community languages school is funded by the program
- determine the fees payable when required
- prepares and signs the Community Use Agreement.
Where free use is approved, the fee payable should be recorded as “Nil” on the Community Use Agreement.
Where free use of a school’s facilities is not approved, the not-for-profit hire rates will apply.
See section 5.5 of the Sharing of School Facilities implementation procedures for more information.
