Report explanation
About this report
The Student results table displays student performance in each NAPLAN domain.
The table provides a detailed list of student participation, scaled scores and proficiency levels by domain, within a selected cohort or class.
Users can view results school-wide or use optional filters to select student groups.
Note: The report includes students who participated in at least one NAPLAN assessment.
What should I look for?
The report provides schools with an overview of the broad areas of potential strength and need for individual students, a cohort or a class group. When triangulated with other data, this information can assist teachers and leaders in planning for appropriate interventions to support further learning.

How to use the report
Select the School and Assessment year.
Use the optional slicers to explore a specific Assessment, Domain and/or Proficiency level.
Optional slicers allow you to analyse the performance of different equity groups and/or selected subsets of students. These slicers include Aboriginality, EAL/D, Gender, SEA quarter (Socio-Economic Advantage), Enrolment type group and Enrolment type, NCCD adjustment and NCCD category. To locate a timetabled class, select a Specific group type and Specific group.
The total number of students in the selected cohort is shown in the blue box to the right of the slicers.
The values selected in the slicers will be shown above the table.
Click on the table header to sort table columns.

Scout in Practice
Examples of analysis scenarios:
- Focus on students performing at a particular proficiency level in one or more domains. Consider whether these students may benefit from interventions to support student learning, participation in high potential and gifted education programs, or other targeted support.
- Look at the results for a class or student group in a specific domain. Sort the results by proficiency level and/or scaled score. This may be helpful to identify groups of students for further investigation.
Examples of student selection scenarios:
- Focus on currently enrolled students by using the slicers for Enrolment year, Scholastic year, Specific Group Type and Specific Group. This will include results for current students who participated in NAPLAN at another NSW public school, if available.
- Focus on students assessed at your school by using the slicers for Enrolment year, Scholastic year and Assessment year (select the same value for Enrolment year and Assessment year). This will display results for all students who participated in NAPLAN at your school, including students no longer enrolled at your school.
- Infants/primary schools can explore current NAPLAN results for their former students. For example, select Enrolment year = 2023, Scholastic year = Year 6, Assessment = NAPLAN 7 and Assessment year = 2024.
