The Student summary shows the overall performance of an individual student across domains.
Student’s scaled scores and proficiency level for each domain are displayed in the 'Student proficiency summary across domains' visualisation and in the 'Summary of scores' table.
When students were not present for NAPLAN tests, participation information will be displayed in the proficiency column of the table, for example, Absent, Exempt, Withdrawn. Test adjustment information is available by hovering over a row in the table.
Use the slicers to select the School, Assessment and Student. Select a Specific Group Type and Specific Group to locate students in a specific timetabled class. Optional slicers for Enrolment year and Scholastic year may help further refine the list of student names.
Hover the cursor on the student score black dot to see: Student, Assessment, Domain, Scaled score and Proficiency.
Select the 'View proficiency descriptions' button for more information on proficiency levels.
An optional slicer also exists for a Benchmark group. Select either SSSG (Statistically Similar School Group) or State to compare the performance of the individual student to a benchmark group.
The chart will show the average scaled score of the benchmark group as a horizontal dotted line and the orange shading indicates the spread of scores in the benchmark group.
Hover the cursor over the orange shading to see Assessment, Domain, Benchmark group, 20th percentile, mean score and 80th percentile. When a Benchmark group has been selected, the hover over student score will also display the Benchmark, 20th percentile, Mean score and 80th percentile.
The values selected in the filters are displayed in the Related class summary box. Select 'View this class report' to open the Class report with these values pre-selected.

Click the icon in the Item report column to open the Student item analysis report for the matching domain.
When opening this report by clicking the icon in the Class report, the slicers will not show selections but the pre-selected values will be shown as text above the chart.
A warning will appear confirming that the report has been populated using pre-selected values.
Select 'Reset all slicers' to clear the preselection and select a new student.
This How to use Scout guide demonstrates the basics of using Scout reports.

Look at the pattern of performance across domains. Is it consistent across domains? Does the student need support or extension in any domain?
When triangulated with other data, this information may assist in identifying the impact of current teaching strategies. This may help identify broad areas for attention, differentiated teaching or further investigation. It may also help to identify opportunities to support student learning in one or more specific domains.
