Implementing the PDHPE syllabus

  • recognise the similarities and differences between the old K-6 PDHPE syllabuses and the current PDHPE K-10 syllabus
  • understand requirements for PDHPE K-10 syllabus implementation
  • recognise how to use the syllabus to make learning meaningful in PDHPE

  • demonstrate what the five propositions look like in the PDHPE K-10 Syllabus

Who should participate? 

All K-6 teachers, executive staff, principals, casual teachers, prospective teachers and school staff wishing to understand and implement the NSW PDHPE K-10 Syllabus.

Duration 

7 hours – a 5-hour online module and 2 hours of post-event tasks for submission. All tasks must be completed in full to meet the requirements.

  • unpack and develop deep knowledge and understanding of the PDHPE K-10 Syllabus
  • explore the evidence base which informs programming in PDHPE
  • reflect on what drives your current programming, teaching and assessment decisions.
  • build familiarity with the syllabus key features 
  • reflect on existing practice 
  • audit units of work to apply understandings of the propositions 
  • recognise the needs of students in PDHPE 
  • plan for an evidence-based approach
  • build familiarity with the PDHPE programming framework 
  • apply the framework and understanding of the syllabus to create units of learning using a collaborative approach.
