In this unit students use viewpoints to explore how artists communicate and represent meaning through ceramic sculpture.

Syllabus

Outcomes referred to in this document are from Visual Arts 7–10 Syllabus (2024) NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for and on behalf of the Crown in right of the State of New South Wales, 2025.

In the sample unit ‘Creatures of consequence’, students use the structural and subjective viewpoints to explore how artists communicate and represent meaning through ceramic sculpture. They design and construct a 3D artwork that draws on their imagination and development of symbols to represent ideas about the environment.

This unit is accompanied by a sample assessment task and student-facing slide presentation resource.
