Career Learning in Curriculum

Career learning in the curriculum refers to the intentional integration of career-related knowledge, skills, and experiences into educational programs. It aims to prepare students for their future careers by helping them explore various pathways, develop essential competencies, and make informed decisions.

Early Stage 1 – Stage 2

In the early years of schooling, students begin to explore the world of work through play, storytelling, and community awareness.

  • Exploring Work Through Play – Discover how children learn about jobs through imaginative play and age-appropriate activities.
  • Community Connections – Learn how students explore local occupations and understand community roles.
  • Future Aspirations – See how children express career dreams and explore a variety of professions.

Stage 3 – Stage 4

Students deepen their understanding of work and careers through structured learning experiences and self-reflection.

  • Career Awareness Activities – Explore how students investigate work and career concepts through engaging classroom activities.
  • Self and Society Learning – Find resources that help students identify their interests, values, and potential contributions.
  • Integrated Career Learning – View examples of career education embedded in curriculum to build future readiness.

Stage 5 – Stage 6

Students develop career management skills and take purposeful steps toward post-school pathways through real-world experiences and planning.

  • Career Decision-Making – Access tools and strategies to support informed career choices.
  • Workplace Learning Opportunities – Discover programs that connect students with industry and workplace experiences.
  • Post-School Transition Planning – Learn how students create transition plans for life after school.
  • Curriculum-Embedded Career Resources – Find Stage 6 teaching resources aligned with syllabus outcomes to enrich career learning.
