Leadership and commitment to Respectful Relationships Education
School leaders are key in shaping and sustaining a respectful school culture.
Leadership, management, and policies are important for Respectful Relationships Education (RRE). Resources are available to help leaders implement RRE in their schools.
Commitment to Respectful Relationships Education
Joining the RRE program shows a desire to improve or create change. Leaders can show commitment to RRE through:
- using and promoting respectful language, practices and behaviour
- setting a positive tone for school culture
- creating a space for open and respectful discussions
- creating a fairer environment for everyone – staff and students alike
- providing the funding and staff to promote gender equality and respectful relationships.
A senior staff member ensures the coordination of activities in the school for:
- gender equality
- respectful relationships.
Planning for future leaders also addresses women's barriers to becoming leaders.
School planning
Annual school strategic planning processes include key issues and actions related to:
- gender equality
- respectful relationships.
Code of conduct
Your school’s Code of Conduct states that all employees, students, parents/carers, volunteers, and visitors must be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of:
- sex
- gender identity
- socio-economic status
- cultural background
- sexual orientation
- level of ability.
