Skills and strategies for striking or fielding games

A practical unit of work focused on developing the skills and strategies required for striking and fielding games. Developed to support the PDHPE K-10 syllabus for Year 7 or 8.

The following sample resource can be adapted by teachers to suit the individual needs of their students. Use these resources to plan and deliver PDHPE. They are suitable for the PDHPE K-10 syllabus (2018).

Resource content

Students will:

  • explicitly learn and practise the skills required to be successful in striking/fielding game, such as overarm throw, two hand strike and fielding.
  • explore the elements of effort, space, time, objects and people in developing a batting (offensive) and/or a fielding (defensive) strategy for the Home Runs (softball) activity
