Assistant principals and head teachers in Sydney’s north and south joined the School Leadership Institute team last week to develop their leadership knowledge and skills.

More than 100 middle leaders from the Forrest, Beaches and Pittwater networks came together across two days at Allambie Heights Public School and Balgowlah North Public School. The group considered how to have conversations that matter without damaging relationships during their professional learning sessions.

Meanwhile, 40 attendees from the Sutherland, Port Hacking and Woronora networks joined the SLI team at Bonnet Bay Public School for their second professional learning session on Leading with Emotional Intelligence.

The enthusiastic and highly engaged group said the day provided an opportunity to reflect on their practices and gain practical skills to use in their school context.

Positive feedback

“It made me more aware of how I can grow as a leader,” one participant said. “It also helped me appreciate staff have their own ways of working and the importance of being aware of these so I can work with them, and we are all heard.”
