I want to support myself

  • Talk about your feelings to let someone know that things aren’t going so well. Learn how to talk to someone about your feelings so you can get help from a trusted adult.
  • Having scary or sad thoughts? Talk to an adult you trust like a parent, carer, Elder, teacher or the school counsellor/school psychologist.
  • Talk to your parents when you feel upset, angry or sad. Maybe you are worried about what your parents will say or that you will bother them. Get tips to make talking to your parents easier.
  • Feeling lonely happens to everyone. You can feel lonely when you are by yourself or when you are sitting next to someone. Learn what to do if you feel lonely.

I want to support my friend

  • Your friend might be getting angry or sad or crying. Letting them know you are there to listen and be their friend is a big help. Read about some ways you can help a friend who feels down.
  • Ask a friend if they are okay using the four ALEC steps - Ask, Listen, Encourage action and Check in. Ask an adult to help you watch this RUOK video about ALEC.
  • Help your friend to stop cyberbullying. Your friend might be sad or scared by messages on the phone or internet. Kids Helpline shows you some there are things you can do to if your friend is being cyberbullied.
  • Talk to your parents or a trusted adult to help you when you want to support a friend. Maybe you are worried about what your parents will say or that you will bother them. Get tips to make talking to your parents easier.
