Syllabus
The new Engineering Technology 7–10 (2024) is to be implemented from 2027.
- 2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus
- 2027 – Start teaching new syllabus
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Course information for leaders
The Engineering Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2024) is a brand new syllabus with some relationship to the existing Industrial Technology 7–10 Syllabus (2019). Planning and preparation will commence from 2025 with implementation in 2027.
The syllabus recognises the critical importance of students creating solutions to solve problems applying engineering, scientific and mathematical processes through practical and project work.

Units of work
A series of programs developed for the Engineering Technology 7–10 (2024) syllabus, across focus areas. Content reflects the breadth of the syllabus and can be adapted to suit your school’s Engineering environments, context, facilities and available resources. Programs are 20 weeks in length.
This sample learning program uses ideas from the Structures focus area. 'Bridging the gap' is a 20-week unit. It involves students exploring how engineers use force, motion and materials principles to design and build effective structures.
