Healthy food habits

This Stage 4, 2-3 lesson sequence uses the read aloud, think aloud strategy to analyse text. The strategy is modelled to review and analyse the Australian guide to healthy eating poster.

Consider the following questions when adapting or developing teaching and learning units.

  • What key messages do you want students to take away?
  • Why does this learning matter?

The following sample resource can be adapted by teachers to suit the individual needs of their students. Use these resources to plan and deliver PDHPE. They are suitable for the PDHPE K-10 syllabus (2018).

Resource content

Students will:

  • work in pairs to use a guided approach to analyse the healthy eating for children and healthy eating for adults brochures to gather additional information
  • apply their learning to create meal plans and health promotion ideas that are inclusive and accessible to all individuals
  • consider sustainable food options and their nutritional value when making personal food choices.
