WorldSkills competitions
Registrations now open for 2026 regional competitions.
WorldSkills is a large-scale vocational education and training (VET) excellence competition that is open to eligible senior school students to compete at a regional and national level.
WorldSkills competitions allow senior school students studying a VET course or school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT), to benchmark their skill level against their peers.
As a WorldSkills partner, the department is committed to supporting students and teachers to participate across NSW.

Students then have the chance to compete at national level in 2027.
Who can get involved?
Senior school students who are currently studying a VET course and have completed at least one year of study of their vocational course.
School-based apprentices and trainees (SBATs) in Years 10 -11 undertaking the HSC.
Teachers can volunteer to accompany their students to WorldSkills events, run a competition or be a judge.
Why should students get involved?
Participation in WorldSkills competitions will allow you to:
collaborate with your teachers, industry partners and local businesses to showcase your practical learning and innovation
explore possible new pathways for a future career in your chosen field.

Student registration
Students can enter any competition(s) close to their school. Students are encouraged to first discuss this opportunity with their teacher and/or career adviser.
Teachers and careers advisers must support and assist each student to register for a regional competition in Term 3 and 4, information is available via VET Statewide Staffroom and Staff Noticeboard (staff only).
Teachers and school involvement
