By attending the Road safety education: Safe active travel K-12 professional learning, teachers developed strategies tailored to their community's specific needs, promoting safe walking and riding among families. They created engaging resources and incorporated safe behaviours into the school’s values education program, highlighting key road safety messages such as ‘Always wear a helmet when you ride or skate’.
The school also assessed its infrastructure for improvements, including adding bike racks and signage. A key event was a road safety presentation for the P&C, showcasing a whole-school approach to safe active travel.
To further engage the community, a parent/carer survey was conducted to gather insights on travel patterns and safety needs, influencing the school's strategies and exploring a potential Walking School Bus initiative.
Dulwich Hill PS is enthusiastic about this initiative, demonstrating a commitment to fostering a safer, more connected community.
