Safe journeys to and from Wentworth Point High School
Wentworth Point High School, which opened at the start of the 2025, has taken important steps to ensure the safety of its new Year 7 students.

The school implemented a proactive road safety education program to help students learn how to be safe pedestrians, passengers, and riders when travelling to and from school.
During the program, students:
- Mapped their routes to and from school and discussed the safest paths to take.
- Explored how texting while walking can distract them and create safety risks.
- Discussed the dangers associated with trucks that impact pedestrian safety, such as blind spots and longer stopping distances.
- Learned about key responsibilities as passengers when travelling by car, bus, train, or ferry.
- Reviewed safety tips for riding bikes and scooters, including the importance of wearing helmets and dismounting when crossing roads.
- Analysed real-life scenarios to spot potential risks, understand what causes those risks, and find ways to reduce them.
- Used resources and campaigns from Transport for NSW to reinforce safe road user behaviours.
To further enhance their learning, students participated in educational walks around the surrounding streets, identifying signs that apply to pedestrians and safe places to cross the road.
Through this comprehensive approach, Wentworth Point High School is committed to ensuring its students travel safely to and from school.
