Tracking and monitoring progress

Access materials to support tracking and monitoring of progress of Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) implementation.

Sample implementation and progress monitoring

Schools develop and use implementation and progress monitoring (IPM) plans aligned with their School Excellence Plan (SEP) to track curriculum and strategic initiative progress.

RRE sample IPMs have been developed in consultation with case study schools and aligned to the phases of implementation.

Schools should adapt sample IPM frameworks to their specific needs to monitor activities and data sources that show progress for each phase.

Schools continuously collect evidence and evaluate initiatives annually through tools like the School Planning and Reporting Online (SPaRO) system.

RRE progress measures are designed to be specific, measurable, achievable within a year, and aligned with RRE initiatives and activities as outlined in the RRE implementation model.

Data and evidence collection and tools

Regular evaluation allows schools to reflect on the effectiveness of RRE initiatives, make evidence-based adjustments and engage stakeholders in feedback.

Schools can gather data about RRE implementation in their school context from multiple sources.

  • School culture surveys for staff, students and the community capturing changes in attitudes and/or support towards gender equality, respectful peer relationships and non-violence.
  • Teacher reflections and confidence ratings regarding delivery of RRE content.
  • Documentation of lesson plans, teacher observations, self-assessment and reflection on Respectful Relationships Education lessons or units aligned with NSW syllabuses.
  • Student work samples, assessments and participation records related to RRE.
  • School climate information such as feedback from students, families and community stakeholders about the school’s respectful culture and environment.
  • Records of whole-school initiatives, professional learning sessions and partnerships supporting RRE.
  • Incident and behaviour data such as monitoring of bullying, harassment and complaint records relevant to relationship issues to identify trends and impacts of RRE.
  • External evaluations of RRE initiatives that measure effectiveness and guide improvements.
