Program design of Respectful Relationships Education
The Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) program is focused on a whole school approach to RRE implementation.
Program design has been informed by the work of Our Watch and the RRE work from the Victorian Department of Education.
Model of implementation
The model of implementation has been adapted from the School Success Model, focusing on a strategic approach to improve student outcomes by providing targeted support to schools and clusters of schools. High impact professional learning throughout the RRE Program supports teachers, leaders and non-teaching staff in their ongoing development and confidence to implement RRE.
School clusters
Schools selected to be part of the RRE program work in clusters. Clusters are supported by members of the RRE team to plan, deliver and evaluate RRE initiatives and actions in their schools. Schools also collaborate as part of their clusters to learn and share effective practices, operating as a community of practice.
Schools have access to professional learning delivered across 3 key audiences:
- leaders
- teachers delivering the RRE curriculum
- whole school staff.
Learning is then implemented in their school as part of a school action plan. Reflective practice is embedded into the program to promote growth. A Learn, Do, Reflect cycle is used by schools who are part of the 'RRE program cluster school model'. This cycle promotes collaboration across school leaders, teachers, support staff and the department.
Case study schools
A pilot program of 10 case study schools in 2025 will share and scale RRE best practices from schools already implementing RRE. As part of this case study schools pilot program, resources and professional learning were developed, delivered and evaluated.
