Developing implementation and progress monitoring
Support for school planning in the development of implementation and progress monitoring (IPMs) aligned to the phases of curriculum implementation.
The purpose of implementation and progress monitoring (IPMs) is to ensure the successful implementation of the initiatives aligned to strategic directions within a school’s School Excellence Plan (SEP). Planning support is available for each phase of curriculum implementation – Engage, Enact and Embed – to assist schools to plan, monitor and evaluate activities.
The Curriculum implementation planning template (DOCX 3.2 MB) can further support this process.
The Engage, Enact and Embed sample IPMs support school planning and prioritisation and, if used, should be adapted to meet the individual needs of each school. These resources are not intended as an exemplar of best practice, but as a sample that includes a breadth of activities and data sources that schools can draw from and contextualise.
Engage phase
In the Engage phase, teachers and school leaders explore aspects of a new syllabus to identify and plan for changes required for successful curriculum implementation.
The following sample IPMs can be used by teachers and school leaders to plan, monitor and evaluate activities aligned to the Engage phase of curriculum implementation.
Enact phase
In the Enact phase, teachers and school leaders teach, assess and report using the new syllabus and evaluate to refine practices and systems.
The following sample IPMs can be used by teachers and school leaders to plan, monitor and evaluate activities aligned to the Enact phase of curriculum implementation.
Embed phase
In the Embed phase, teachers and school leaders strengthen and scale to ensure sustainable practices and systems.
The following sample IPMs can be used by teachers and school leaders to plan, monitor and evaluate activities aligned to the Embed phase of curriculum implementation.
Resources
The following tools could be used by schools to plan implementation and progress monitoring activities.
