Learning Circles
Term 2 - Community Engagement
The Community Engagement Learning Circle will focus on strengthening meaningful community engagement through authentic partnerships with Aboriginal families, Elders, community organisations, and local services.
This course is designed for Aboriginal Support Staff, Teachers, School Executive and Aboriginal Education Committees.
Participants will learn to:
- Understand the importance of authentic community engagement in improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal students
- Develop a deeper understanding of culturally responsive practices that strengthen relationships with Aboriginal students, families and local communities
- Explore practical strategies to create culturally inclusive classrooms where Aboriginal students feel valued, respected and connected.
- Strengthen confidence to engage respectfully with local Aboriginal communities, recognising the importance of partnership and shared decision-making
- Identify ways to meaningfully include Aboriginal voices, perspectives and knowledge within classroom learning and school decision-making.

Term 3 - Personalised Learning Pathways
- Strengthen PLP processes through authentic student, family and community voice
- Build capability to sustain and monitor PLPs
- Align PLPs to school strategic priorities
Term 4 - Culturally Responsive Teaching
- Culturally responsive teaching and learning
- Strengthen teacher capability to teach through culture, not just about culture
- Deepen understanding of local Country and its authentic integration into curriculum and pedagogy
