My apprenticeship or traineeship is not registered
When you become an apprentice or trainee a training contract is signed by you and your employer. Your apprenticeship or traineeship becomes official when that contract is registered with the Training Services NSW
Are you registered?
A short time after starting work with your employer an Australian Apprentice Centre representative would have visited your workplace, spoken to both you and your employer and help you to complete a training contract application.
Ask your employer for a copy of the signed training contract if you do not one or do not remember signing a contract.
You should have a letter confirming that you are registered.
If there is no training contract your employer needs to contact an Australian Apprenticeships Centre as soon as possible.
If there are ongoing delays, you or your employer should contact your local Training Services NSW office on 13 28 11.
Legal requirements
A training contract is a legally binding agreement between you and your employer which sets out your rights, responsibilities and obligations for the period of the contract.
You must be a registered apprentice or trainee
- to be legally covered and protected
- to receive a qualification at the end of your training
- to be eligible for any rebates and allowances.
Your employer must apply to Training Services NSW to register your apprenticeship or traineeship training contract within 28 days of your starting work. However, a late approval is possible.
