Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a mandatory, one-on-one assessment designed to identify each student's literacy and numeracy skills at the beginning of Kindergarten. Best Start measures a student’s level of understanding as they commence schooling in relation to the literacy and numeracy continuums.
Best Start is inclusive—all children have the opportunity to participate. Accommodations can be made for students with confirmed disabilities and/or special needs.
