Markets on school grounds

Markets held on school grounds are established through a tender process to select the market operator.

Markets held on school grounds are established through a tender process to select the market operator. Schools wishing to undertake a tender should contact community.infrastructure@det.nsw.edu.au to receive advice on next steps.

On behalf of the department, the Community Infrastructure unit will:

  • coordinate the required tender documentation in consultation with the school principal
  • determine the licence fee to be charged
  • prepare the licence agreement between the department and the market operator.

Market operators that wish to use the school site should submit an Expression of Interest to publicised opportunities.

Vendors who wish to trade at the markets negotiate directly with the market operator.

See section 1.8 of the Sharing of School Facilities procedures for more information.

Parents and Citizens (P&C) Associations are not required to tender and may operate ad-hoc fundraising markets under a community use agreement.

For more details about community use agreements, refer to section 2.1 of the Sharing of School Facilities procedures.
