Access and support

A selected range of Scout reports are available to Catholic, Independent, and ACT schools. Users must be eligible and trained to use Scout reports.

Scout overview

Scout is an education reporting tool that provides accurate, secure and accessible data in one central place. It provides users with relevant reports and tools to make well-informed, evidence-based decisions.

Teachers can use Scout to review and monitor student assessment results, and growth and performance trends.

Scout offers DELs and school leaders access to school operations data to assist them with strategic planning and reporting.

Privacy

All Scout users must adhere to NSW privacy laws. By accessing Scout data, you agree to:

  • treat the data as personal and sensitive.

  • exercise caution and sound judgement when discussing personal information with others.

  • seek permission from the data owner through Scout support before publishing information sourced from Scout.

  • never leave Scout open in the browser when away from your desk.

  • report any suspected data breaches to Scout support immediately.

This system provides information from various department and non-department sources. The reports and capabilities provided are intended to assist you in making informed decisions about the activities you are responsible for.

Data accuracy

Efforts are made to improve the accuracy of the information provided. However, due to the large number of disparate information sources, some inaccuracies may exist. Please report any data inaccuracies so they can be resolved. Note that data is drawn from underlying source systems, so errors must be corrected within those systems.

Data privacy

In accessing data in Power BI, you are bound by NSW privacy laws. Requirements for using and disclosing personal information apply to all personal information held by the department. Data is used with the permission of the Data Owners.

  • Ensuring confidential information, in any form, cannot be accessed by unauthorised people. Sensitive information should only be shared with those who require it to conduct their duties or can assist in carrying out work due to their expertise.

  • Exercising caution and sound judgement when discussing personal information with others. Information should be limited to those who require it to conduct their duties.

Unauthorised disclosure may cause harm or give an improper advantage to an individual or agency. The department's integrity and credibility may be damaged if information is not kept secure.
