Draft National AI In Schools Framework
The Commonwealth, States and Territories and representatives of the non-government school sector are collaborating on the development of a principles-based framework to support schools and education systems in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
On 6 July 2023, Education Ministers across Australia agreed to release a Consultation Paper seeking views on a draft National AI in Schools Framework. The Framework sets out elements and principles to guide education systems, schools and teachers in using AI safely and ethically.
From 6 July to 16 August, The Department, on behalf of the Commonwealth, States and Territories and representatives of the non-government school sector, sought public feedback on the draft National Framework.
The Department is working through responses for further consideration by Education Ministers in October 2023.

Within NSW, the Department is continuing to develop appropriate guidance and support on the use of AI for students, teachers, and schools.
