Hi. Welcome to our short video on some of the features of an iPad that can boost student focus and attention in your classroom. Today, we are going to look at two simple tools that will help your students each and every day. They are Reader View and Hide Distractions.

Let's start with Reader View. When you're reading an article online in Safari, tap the Reader icon at the top of the page. This removes ads, menus, and other clutter, leaving only the main article for you to read. Navigate to a website. Not all websites are supported for Reader View but those with plenty of text and information will usually have this feature.

Look for the Reader symbol appearing in the URL bar here at the top of the page when it loads. This indicates that the Reader View option is available for this particular website. Now, tap the Website Options icon and then tap Show Reader. This page will then reload with all the ads, some images, and other non-essential items removed. This then becomes a great resource you can share with your students in so many ways.

Select the Share icon and explore options through AirDrop with your Apple Classroom, email, and more, or simply save the site, mark it up, or even print it out. By clicking on the Reader symbol, you can even get the page read to you by selecting Listen to Page or switch in and out of Reader View and back to the original website.

Next, we will explore the great feature of Hide Distractions. When browsing websites, you might want to limit the distractions for yourself or your students, but only for selected aspects. This feature gives you great power to limit what the user sees on the page to help them stay focused and attentive. Let's explore how it works.

Firstly, navigate to a webpage. Now, select the Website Options icon, then select Hide Distracting Items. Now, simply select the sections of the site you want to remove by tapping upon the selection and selecting the Hide option. This is great for site readability, improving badly constructed sites, or even removing parts for screenshots.

The sections that you have hidden are only temporarily removed and when you are finished removing all of the sections, you simply just need to press the tick in the URL bar. This is great when showing websites to students to ensure that they are focused on the facts and information rather than the items designed to distract the reader in your classroom. To get the removed parts back, simply tap on the blue eye symbol here and select the Show Hidden Items.
