Quality programming in 7-10 PDHPE (secondary)

This MyPL resource is on demand professional learning that was designed to build staff's knowledge of the new PDHPE K-10 syllabus and its features.

Audience: Stage 4 and 5 teachers and leaders

Duration: 8 hours

Quality programming in 7-10 PDHPE is a self-paced, online professional learning course designed for individuals to:

  • build capacity to create quality teaching and learning programs to meet the requirements of the PDHPE K-10 syllabus
  • engage with evidence across the school community to plan for student needs
  • evaluate personal teaching and learning programs using evidence to inform planning
  • plan well structured learning and teaching programs that engage students and promote learning
  • improve their capacity to support colleagues with programming for effective syllabus implementation
  • use an evidence based approach to create a stage-based scope and sequence and unit of learning to meet student needs and fit the school context.

This course is made up of 3 hours of online learning modules via the Coassemble platform and 5 hours of offline collaborative or individual tasks. These tasks are part of a teacher’s professional responsibility for syllabus implementation, including a scope and sequence and unit of learning.

The course can be accessed by PDHPE curriculum leaders and Head Teachers to support faculties of networks with syllabus implementation.

Structure

This course supports teachers and leaders to:

  • use evaluation tools to review existing practice to identify strengths and areas for improvement
  • explore an evidence based approach to programming with the PDHPE K-10 syllabus
  • review sample scope and sequences and units of learning to identify opportunities for growth and change in practice
  • identify evidence of student needs, creating big ideas and planning units of learning
  • create a scope and sequence and unit of learning ready for syllabus implementation
  • submit tasks as evidence of learning.
