Learning across the curriculum in PDHPE (secondary)

This MyPL resource is on demand professional learning that was designed to build staff's knowledge of the new PDHPE K-10 syllabus and its features.

Audience: Stage 4 and 5 teachers and leaders

Duration: 5 hours

Learning across the curriculum in 7-10 PDHPE is a self-paced, online professional learning course designed to unpack the Learning across the curriculum content in PDHPE, with a focus on literacy and numeracy.

The course will assist teachers and PDHPE leaders identify the literacy and numeracy demands in PDHPE and plan for literacy and numeracy development across Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE.

By the end of the course, learners will apply their understanding of PDHPE K-10 syllabus content and the National Literacy and Numeracy progressions to create a teaching and learning activity to promote literacy skill development (7-10) and numeracy skill development (7-10).

This course is made up of 3 hours of online learning modules and 2 hours of offline collaborative or individual tasks. These tasks are part of a teacher’s professional responsibility for syllabus implementation, including teaching and learning activities promoting literacy and numeracy skill development for a stage of learning.

Structure

This course supports teachers and leaders to:

  • unpack the Learning across the curriculum content in PDHPE
  • identify the literacy and numeracy demands
  • plan for literacy and numeracy development within PDHPE
  • explore the effective integration of ICT to support pedagogy and assessment in PDHPE.
