NAIDOC Week 2020

NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, recognising them as the ongoing Custodians of the land.

Day 1 - Opening

Acknowledgement of Country Opening Address from former Secretary Mark Scott. Aboriginal students run a Question and Answers session with Mark Scott, Cindy Berwick, President of the NSW AECG; Martin Graham, Deputy Secretary; Michelle Hall, Executive Director, Connected Communities and Karen Jones, Executive Director, Aboriginal Outcomes and Partnerships;.

Day 2 - Embedding Cultural Practice in Schools

Showcasing how NSW public schools are embedding Aboriginal cultural practices. Special thanks to; Windale Public School Preschool, Terrigal Public School, Wilcannia Central School and Murrumbidgee Regional High School for participating.

Day 3 - Interview with Benson Sulo

Benson Igua Saulo, in-coming Consul-General to the US, based in Houston (2021) is interviewed by students from his former high schools - Tamworth High School and Peel High School.

Day 4 - Language Lesson

Uncle Michael Jarrett delivers a Gumbaynggirr language lesson

Closing - Uncle Archie Roach sings virtually with NSW public school students
