AEDC School Profile

The Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), is a population-based measure of how children in Australia are tracking in terms of their development by the time they start school.

AEDC looks at 5 areas of early childhood development - physical health and well-being, social competence, emotional maturity, language and cognitive skills (school-based), communication skills, and general knowledge.

Data collection has occurred every three years since 2009, with the latest collection completed in 2021. The 2021 AEDC data is now available to explore from the AEDC School Profile app in Scout for principals and school leaders.
